Recently,  The Florida supermarket chain Winn-Dixie was hit with a massive judgment in federal court because their website was not in compliance with the Americans with disabilities act. More specifically, visually impaired users could not access the site via their screen reader and as a result the courts have ordered the company to make massive changes that could cost millions of dollars.   This is something that was easily preventable. With that in mind, you always want to have a discussion with your web developer before launching a new site to make sure there will be no legal issues down the road with your handicap accessibility.   Moreover, it is likely that Google, Bing and  other search engine's will take into account his handicap accessibility issues in its rankings for certain keywords
